Richard Raab
About the author
Richard Raab lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he works in cybersecurity and systems administration. The work keeps him thinking about how institutions use information to control the people inside them, and that question finds its way into most of what he writes.
His novel The Reactor follows a physicist who wakes from a sabotaged fusion test into a world where ordinary people have developed impossible abilities, and a corporation has appointed itself their shepherd. It is the first book of a completed trilogy, with Metamorphosis and Spiral. What the River Keeps, the first of the Owashtanong novels, is folk horror set in his hometown: a man follows the woman he loves into a gray echo of Grand Rapids and the drowned ruin beneath the Grand River. He is also at work on Going Under, about an agent who finds his own name in a classified file, and has written two standalone novels, Augment and Gatekeeper.
When he isn’t writing, he paints in acrylic and oil and builds cosplay props and armor. His favorite authors include Steven Gould, Cory Doctorow, John Scalzi, Larry Niven and Octavia E. Butler.
