The house was there and then it wasn’t.

Sean Copper fixes things for a living. On the night of the invasion he loses his wife and his seven-year-old son, and he wakes in a tank on a world with the wrong sun, his body rebuilt, a port in his chest. Of eight billion people, the invaders kept ten million. The men are being remade into soldiers for someone else’s war and conditioned through that port for total loyalty.
